Backcountry Men's Ministry is a faith based Christian organization whose
mission is to use a love for the outdoors to disciple men in their relationship with other
men, their families, and their Creator. Backcountry Men view God's wilderness classroom as
a place to reflect in a way that is seldom attained in urban life. In many
cases, men who take these journeys find they are able to confront
the challenges of life, find relief from the personal and professional constraints, and in so doing, enjoy a sense of renewal
when returning to their
families and communities. In the end, they come home with a better sense to spiritually lead.
The pristine
landscapes found in many wilderness areas inspire Backcountry Men to view God's handiwork
from the standpoint of His divine majesty. In Luke 5:16, God's Word tells us that Jesus
sojourned into the wilderness for many of these same reasons and the psalmist declares in
Psalms 19:1-2 tell us the heavens declare the glory of God and the skies proclaim the work of His
hands....
All life is a gift from God and when men experience the magnificent beauty
found in the wilderness, it renews an awareness of this gift. It
is the desire of our ministry for men to
realize that each one of us is a part of a wonderfully diverse, inter-relational concept
of life. This concept, in the end, is part of the world that God created. As Backcountry Men we
acknowledge Christ as the center of the universe the one by whom and for whom all things
were created and it is in wilderness experience
that God reminds us who we truly are.
